Chocolate is now a very common sweet available to everyone, whereas back in time, it was exclusively for the elite of the Inca, Aztec and Mayan tribes of South America. However, history might soon be repeating itself.

An article on claimed that, “chocolate may soon be in such short supply, it will only be available as a luxury item to the wealthy….Substitutes like palm oil and chemical flavorings and fillers will increasingly make up ‘chocolate’ bars, while the real stuff will be at a premium.”

Angus Kennedy, a former chocolate taster for major companies said that the world could find itself with a shortage of cocoa beans within seven years.

Next on our list is the most expensive chocolate truffle. Coming from Denmark, this truffle was created by Chef Fritz Knipschildt in 1999. Made to order, this chocolate is definitely one you should try before you kick the bucket since its blend of cream dark chocolate and vanilla tones will send your taste buds soaring.

This next one is a royal treat from France. Debauve & Gallais was established in 1800 and can boast to be the official chocolate supplier to French royalty and notably, Napoleon himself. The chocolate boxes can cost around $900 and contain as much as 99 percent of cocoa.

Chocolate and gold. Can you get any more extravagant than that? A Swiss-based company creates chocolate truffles from the most prized cocoa from Equador and coats the finished truffles with edible gold. If you desperately want to make your own gold topped truffles or gold topped anything, the company, DeLafee, is authorized to sell the edible gold by the gram. So….how many grams will that be?

Now what will you do after you consume all these delicious and rare treats? You can either hit the Instagram or hit the gym.
