LEED certified buildings in Lebanon

2010 witnessed a sudden growth of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified projects in Lebanon. Lebanon ranks seventh on the list of registered LEED projects in the Arab countries, while United Arab Emirates comes in first and boasts a total of 720.

Sustainability takes into consideration three different dimensions: economic, social, and environmental. Some sustainability measures that were taken into account, include minimizing the projects’ water consumption by using low-water fixtures and rainwater harvesting; reducing energy usage through highly energy-efficient HVAC and lighting systems; improving internal thermal comfort as well as indoor environmental quality by promoting a smoke-free building and low-toxicity paint and finishes; and establishing a Green Cleaning Policy and a Recycling Policy.
