Did you know that more than 90% of billionaires today are men? Come on ladies! Actually, there has been a rise in female billionaires over the past year. According to MarketWatch, there are currently 138 women among the 1,426 people on Forbes’s Billionaires List this year, up from 104 last year.
Now let me ask you this… man or woman, what’s the worst thing that can happen to a billionaire? Being called a “millionaire”.
In 2009, Donald Trump sued author, Timothy O’Brien for $5 billion, when the author wrote in his book, TrumpNation: The Art of Being the Donald that Trump was a millionaire. We are aware that Donald sues people right and left but this time, he had a good reason.
Anyone would love to have a book written about them and be called a millionaire. The problem is, he’s actually a billionaire.
According to an article in the Hollywood Reporter, “As for Trump's own estimation of his net worth, Trump's lawyer says it has been "proven conclusively" to exceed $7 billion.”
Being called a millionaire when you’re actually worth much, more is just plain hurtful, not just to your ego but to your professional life.
Donald Trump may seem like just a TV personality, or a simple celebrity, but behind those photos and glamorous parties is a lot of hard work and billions of dollars in investments. He is a personal brand, he is a real estate mogul, and a serious businessman. Wealthy people invest in his properties and businesses. If he was called a “millionaire” instead of a “billionaire”, in the business world that means a lot.
What does it cost? According to The Independent, a UK magazine, Trump himself said that the comment had cost him many profitable international deals.
Are you a millionaire? If you are, then becoming a billionaire isn’t really too farfetched of a dream. You too can be part of that 1% of the world’s population.
